North East Area

The Peacemaker crossed Lake Ontario in his stone canoe and traveled through the forests of New York preaching his message of peace but until he got to Ganondagan no one listened. It was there that he met Jikonsaseh, who listened and believed. She became the Mother of Nations, his first great disciple and the second was Hiawatha. Together these three built a lasting peace between the nations.

Come with us to rediscover the Message of the Peacemaker.

SCHEDULE: We will gather Friday night, August 17th to camp at Letchworth State Park, "The Grand Canyon of the East." We will share a simple dinner, open the circle and celebrate our coming together. Saturday morning after breakfast there will be a teaching council and then we will travel to Ganondagan State Historic Site in Victor, New York where we will eat our box lunches, have a presentation, a film, and spend some time on the site where many believe Jikonsaseh is buried. We will return to Letchworth for exploring, dinner, ceremony and drumming. We will part on Sunday after closing the circle.

COST & ACCOMMODATIONS: Figure $25 to $45 per person plus food. Our two Area C cabin campsites cost around $500, which will be shared. Each cabin sleeps six and each site is allowed two tents and two cars. (We will have the cabins from August 11th- 19th, so you may come early.) Registration at Ganondagan is $5 per adult and $4 per student. If it looks as though we can eke out a few extra dollars, we may invite some honored guests.

WHAT TO BRING: Bring your own bedding, linens and tableware. Bring clothes to layer for all weather and good walking shoes. Bring large tents. Bring drums. Bring a good heart and a give-away. Most of all, bring yourself. You don't want to miss this.

REGISTRATION: You must register by July 18th. No exceptions! Thirteen people have already registered so openings are limited, though there are additional campsites just south of the cabins. (See site map.) Call 508-377-9197or e-mail melindaperrin@msn.com and leave your name, address, phone numbers, e-mail, and number of people. Melinda will confirm. Call Melinda with questions. Check out www.ganondagan.org and www.letchworthpark.com for maps and site information.
